Having grown up in Miami, I am a living, breathing representation of the mantra '3-0-5 til' I die.' I'm your typical born and bred Dade County girl and I'm not afraid to admit it. So when presented with an opportunity that tears me away from my beloved stomping grounds- say, to the 954 (gasp) or even the 561 (shudder), I've been known to play the 'lazy girl' card and stay in my Miami Dade bubble AKA my comfort zone.

Recently, however, I was presented with an invitation so enticing that I immediately packed my bags and left my excuses at the door. I was invited to spend part of the weekend exploring The Palm Beaches and I'm here to report back that I've found my new favorite staycation spot. While many Miamians live and die by Wynwood and South Beach, there are quite a few sights to see (and eat, of course) just an hour up the road. So next time you're looking for an easy weekend escape this summer, consider showing our neighbors in the Palm Beaches some love.

Before I dive into the nitty gritty details, I'm going to tell you the FIVE reasons the Palm Beaches have got it going on.

1. Proximity: Just an hour from Miami, it's the perfect distance for a quick retreat, while still remaining close to home. That means you can still get your vacation fix without having to use up your precious vacation days or spend hundreds on flights to a far-off destination.

2. Accommodations: There are plenty of amazing, beachfront accommodations in Delray and The Palm Beaches, and I was lucky to stay at one that had views for days. The Delray Sands Resort is a quiet, picturesque boutique resort where you can stare out at the ocean and totally switch gears from Miami's hustle and bustle to absolute relaxation and vacation mode.

3. Nightlife: On a Friday night in the heart of Delray, it seemed as if every young professional (and good looking ones, at that) took residence in one of the many bars that line Atlantic Ave. Delray honestly gives Miami's nightlife a run for its money.

4. Beaches: While Miami certainly has its fair share of beautiful beaches, there's something so quaint and charming about the ones in Palm Beach. I mean, the word 'beaches' is in the name, so you know they've got to be something special- right?

5. Food: We all know the real reason I so readily packed my bags...it's because I knew there were some delicious meals waiting for me in Delray and The Palm Beaches.

Now to take all of the guesswork out of the equation, below I have summed up your ultimate 24-hour food guide for your next weekend getaway in The Palm Beaches.

50 Ocean

The Rundown: If you're looking for lunch or dinner with a view, 50 Ocean is your spot. With panoramic views overlooking the Atlantic ocean, there's really no better place to take in your surroundings. Almost as impressive as the view was the incredible service and food to match.

Salt 7

The Rundown: Located in Downtown Delray, Salt 7 is clearly the go-to spot for 20-somethings looking to kick back a few drinks after a long day at work. With a lively bar scene and beautiful people all around, it's no surprise this is one of Delray's hottest spots. But Salt 7 is SO much more than just a happening bar. This is one of the most memorable meals I've had in a while. With an inventive (and extensive) menu, there's truly something for everyone. Believe me when I tell you it tastes as good as it looks! A+ for presentation.

Latitudes Ocean Grill

The Rundown: Located at the Delray Sands Resort, this is the perfect place to get a power breakfast before hitting the beach. Here you can have a light and healthy meal to kickstart to your day or you can go the indulgent route (no judgment here!) just steps from the sand. You can also wash it down with an array of boozy beverages to truly remind yourself that you're on vacation.

Taste History Culinary Tour

The Rundown: This is an absolute must if you want to try a wide variety of Palm Beach's finest! The Taste History Culinary Tour is a bus and walking tour that involves cultural food tastings from several local, family-owned eateries in off-the-beaten path areas. While you're munching on some delicious bites, the tour also takes you to explore various local art shops and emerging cultural districts - it's a fun, interactive experience you won't want to miss.
